Wang Yi: Honor Loyalty, Mission and Dedication by Actions
2015-08-11 12:27

On August 10 local time, Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed in an interview with the Chinese media after his visits to Sierra Leone, Liberia and Guinea that one essential task of his trip to these three West African countries hit by the Ebola epidemic was to visit our colleagues and compatriots. When the Ebola epidemic raged in the three countries, people from other countries fled from them. But our embassy personnel, medical workers, peacekeepers and engineering staff chose to stay, to shoulder responsibility and to contribute. They not only fight against Ebola together with local people, but have excellently fulfilled various missions entrusted by our country, in which they have withstood a severe test. We must extend gratitude and express respect to them personally.

Wang Yi said that the experience of fighting against Ebola shows again that diplomatic work is absolutely not just about wearing formal suits to welcome visitors and see them off, but to protect state interests, safeguard national dignity, establish national image, expand external influence and enhance the international status with our wisdom and toil. Diplomatic personnel should appear in and hold fast to the place wherever there is a need and a task. No matter how complicated the situation is and how daunting the challenge we face, we need to perform the duties and obligations as diplomatic personnel and honor loyalty, mission and dedication, the core values of diplomatic personnel by actions.
