On August 20, 2015, Foreign Minister Wang Yi met at request with visiting Chairman of the Subcommittee on East Asia, the Pacific, and International Cyber Security Policy of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations Cory Gardner of the US.
Wang Yi expressed that President Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to the US this September and both sides should take this historic opportunity to better consolidate strategic mutual trust, explore ways for positive interaction in the Asia-Pacific, ensure China-US relations advance along a healthy and stable track and together contribute to world peace and prosperity.
Cory Gardner said that this is his first visit to Chinese mainland and he has gained much experience from it. China is a great country and so is the US. With cooperation, both countries can certainly score great achievements. All circles in the US warmly welcome President Xi Jinping's visit and hope it further promote bilateral cooperation.
Both sides also exchanged views on international and regional issues of common concern including the nuclear issue on the Korean Peninsula and cyber security.
